On February 25, Secretary Wu Gang of the Nuclear Power Operations Research Institute of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) visited the School of Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) and held an exchange forum on further development of university-enterprise cooperation and joint technological innovation during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period in the School of Energy and Power Engineering.
Xie Xiaolin, a standing member of the Party Committee and Vice President of HUST, attended the forum and welcomed the visiting representatives on behalf of our university. President Xie introduced the overall situation of the college, talent training, major platforms, and integrated military-civilian scientific research to the guests. He also pointed out that HUSTers have always attached great significance to basic research, got deeply engaged in the front line of scientific research, and actively promoted the development of the science and technology industry by application of research results. At the same time, given the fine tradition in HUST scientific research on national defense and military industry, Xie hoped in-depth cooperation with CNNC and other units related in the future, with a view to jointly promoting the implementation of the military-civilian integration strategy.
Wu Gang, Secretary of CNNC Nuclear Power Operation Research Institute expressed his appreciation for HUST’s achievements in talent training, innovative technology, and exchanged views on further promoting university-enterprise cooperation and joint scientific research. He hoped that the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations could further cooperate with HUST and he encouraged more graduates from HUST to get devoted to nuclear energy industry.
Liu Hongyun, Deputy Director of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operation and Director-general of the Hubei Provincial Nuclear Society, detailed the historical evolution and development status quo of the CNNC Institute of Nuclear Power Operation, and introduced the goals and key tasks of the scientific research plan during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
Yang Jun, Deputy Dean of EPE, on behalf of the HUST, reported on HUST's discipline construction, scientific research advantages, and cooperation basis in nuclear science and technology-related fields.
During the visit, the visiting representatives visited the School of Mechanical Science & Engineering, the Clean Energy Discipline Building, and the Institute of Applied Electromagnetic Engineering of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the HUST, etc.
