Prof. Zhao Haibo selected as “Fellow of The Combustion Institute”

Recently, The Combustion Institute announced the 2023 Fellows of The Combustion Institute. Professor Zhao Haibo, from State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion, School of EPE of HUST, was selected as one of the 2023 Fellows of The Combustion Institute for his innovative and outstanding contributions on multi-scale kinetics, modeling, and scaling-up of chemical looping combustion technology.

The Combustion Institute is an international, non-profit, educational, and scientific society. Founded in 1954, Combustion Institute promotes and disseminates research activities in all areas of combustion science and technology for the advancement of many diverse communities around the world. The International Symposium on Combustion is its world congress and major biennial meeting. Combustion Institute directs the publication of two scientific journals, Combustion and Flame, published monthly, and the Proceedings of the Combustion Institute.

Established by the Combustion Institute, the Fellowship of the Combustion Institute is a lifetime honor to commend outstanding scholars worldwide who have made outstanding contributions to combustion technology. Since the first list of xx was announced in 2018, 260 scholars worldwide have got this honor. In 2023, a total of 15 scholars (3 from China) have been selected as “fellows of the Combustion Institute”.

Prof. Zhao Haibo is currently the Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Coal Combustion, at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He has been engaged in the research of low-carbon combustion and high-value utilization of fossil energy, combustion synthesis of functional nanoparticles, etc. Professor Zhao has presided over several national scientific research projects, such as the key international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the International cooperation projects of the National Key Research and Development Plan, etc. His research work has won the Outstanding Paper Award of the International Combustion Institute, the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Chemical Looping, and the First Prize of the Natural Science Award of Hubei Province. He has published more than 220 SCI papers, more than 5000 SCI cited papers with H index of 41, obtained more than 20 Chinese and American invention patents, published three monographs, and served as an editorial board member or associate editor of Energy & FuelsEngineering, and Journal of Combustion Science and Technology
