Department of Nuclear Engineering and Technology (DNET), affiliated with the School of Energy & Power Engineering in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), originated from the Department of Engineering Physics which was established by the former HIT in 1958. Since the re-establishment of the nuclear discipline in the 1990s, DNET has built a complete curriculum and students cultivation system. DNET and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) launched a joint-training program in 2006. In 2010, DNET signed an agreement with China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). In the same year, the undergraduate program was certificated by the Ministry of Education. In 2017, we hosted the annual meeting of the Nuclear Engineering Discipline Committee of the Ministry of Education. In 2018, we hosted a symposium on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the nuclear discipline and forum. “Advanced PWR Nuclear Power Plant Operation and Typical Accidents” has been approved as the first-class course of state virtual reality experiment. We're honored to be selected as the national first-class undergraduate specialty construction site of “double-ten thousand plan” in 2020.
Scientific research covers reactor thermal hydraulics, reactor physics, nuclear materials and particle irradiation, and radioactive waste treatment. In the past five years, DNET has published more than 200 papers, many monographs and translations, more than 10 invention patents and software copyrights, and more than 30 research projects under research with total funding of tens of millions of RMB.
Talent Cultivation: over 500 students graduated with an employment rate above 98%. Now about 100 undergraduates and 40 graduate students are enrolled.
