After being awarded the Humboldt scholarship when my postdoctoral was completed in 2004, I came back to China as a Humboldt scholar in 2006 and worked in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. My research is mainly engaged in coal/biomass structure and reactivity, ultra-low combustion pollutant control, low-carbon with hydrogen-rich thermal conversion mechanism and technology. In particular, my work is focused on the nonlinear structure characterization and efficient combustion characteristics of coal/biomass, low nitrogen combustion theory and collaborative control technology, hybrid energy conversion theory and advanced technology development.

In the past five years, 81 SCI papers and 7 textbooks have been published , including 3 ESI highly cited papers, 14 papers cited over 20 times, 2894 times SCI papers cited, and the highest single citation in SCI 141 times. 27 national invention patents, 2 international invention patents, and 2 software copyrights have been authorized. I also applied 3 international patents and 52 national invention patents.

In the nonlinear structure characterization and efficient combustion characteristics of coal/biomass research, I was awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2014 (Second Prize, Ranked 11).

In the ultra-low combustion pollutant control area, I was awarded the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2019 (Second Prize, Ranked 2), the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2014 (Second Prize, Ranked 11) and the Hubei Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2018 (First Prize, Ranked 2).

In the hybrid energy conversion theory and advanced technology development aspect, I got the New Century Excellent Talents of Ministry of Education in 2013, the Outstanding Youth Foundation of Hubei Province in 2013 and was awarded the Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award in 2020 (Second Prize, Ranked 2).
