signed a cooperation framework agreement.
According to the agreement, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation and exchanges based on the principle of long-term cooperation and common development. A platform for industry-university-research cooperation will be jointly built to cultivate high-level technical personnel, with a view to exploring cutting-edge and innovative technologies, and jointly promoting high-quality development of Xiaomi's major appliances and air-conditioning products.
At the signing ceremony, Zhang Feng, a partner and Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group, pointed out the technology-oriented pursuit of innovation, and the great importance Xiaomi has attached to technical cooperation with top universities. EPE is at the top level in both the industry and academia in terms of related scientific research and technology and reserve of talents. The establishment of a joint laboratory marks a very good opportunity for Xiaomi Group to work with universities in facing challenges and practicing together to achieve a leading position in both technology and products.
Luo Xiaobing, Dean of EPE, said that EPE has made many important contributions to society in terms of cultivating talents and promoting the development of disciplines and industries. The school has laid emphasis on both scientific research theory and in-depth contacts and exchanges with core enterprises, to solve practical issues as backed by related industries. The HUST graduates have served as technology leaders in many large companies in the refrigeration and air-conditioning industry, fan industry, and water pump and turbine industry. In addition, the school, featuring a discipline system supported by Energy Saving and Emission Reduction of Energy & Power Devices Engineering Research Center, MOE and 9 national engineering practice centers, has composed dozens of professional textbooks and books in the study on air-conditioning noise reduction technology, refrigerant substitution and application, energy-saving optimization and control technology of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, new-type refrigeration and low-temperature technology, air-conditioning comfort, and high-efficiency heat transfer and electronic device heat dissipation technology, etc. The newly-established laboratory jointly with Xiaomi's major home appliances department will serve for promoting the in-depth linkage of production, education and research, so as to enhance the cultivation of scientific talents and the accumulation of scientific research technologies, which will work in concert to push forward the upgrade of the industrial chain.
Before the signing ceremony, experts and scholars from EPE visited the global store of Xiaomi Science and Technology Park, Mi Home, and Xiaomi ecological chain enterprise before the two parties conducted further exchanges on project cooperation, technological problems tackling, and talent training.
