Jianye Chen won the Young Scholar Award by the International Institute of Refrigeration

The 26th International Congress of Refrigeration (ICR 2023) sponsored by the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) was held in Paris, France from August 21st to 25th, 2023. During the conference, the IIR Young Scholar Award was presented, and Jianye Chen from HUST was awarded the Carl von Linde Award. 

The IIR Young Scholar Award was established in 1989 and was first awarded in 1991. It is the highest award given by the IIR to young scientists in the field of refrigeration on a global scale and is awarded every four years at the International Congress of Refrigeration. The Carl von Linde Award is named after the German scientist Carl von Linde, a pioneer in the field of cryogenic engineering, and is awarded to young scholars who have made outstanding achievements in cryogenic engineering research.


Profile of Jianye Chen:

Jianye is now an associate professor in the School of Energy and Power Engineering. He obtained a doctoral degree from Zhejiang University in 2016. His research interest focuses on fluid mechanics, heat transfer and densification of cryogenic fluids, liquid hydrogen storage and transportation, hydrogen safety, heat and mass transfer in distillation columns, and cryogenic spray cooling. He has led more than ten projects, including funding from NSFC, and he has published more than 40 articles in leading journals such as JFM, HMT, PoF, ATE, and IJHE. He has also authored one coursebook. Jianye has supervised students who won the 2020th 100 Excellent Undergraduate Theses Award from the MOE teaching committee, the National Renewable Energy Technology Science Contest, and the National University Student Social Practice and Science Contest on Energy Saving and Emission Reduction.
